Special Events
With special and permanent exhibitions and new IMAX® and Planetarium films, every Museum visit can be a special and unique event. Each special event is specifically designed with children and families in mind. Visit the Museum for the current special events listed below.

Dance, Houston! Workshop Series Wednesday, November 19, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Free to the Public
Come to HMNS for a demonstration of dance by the professionals and learn about the human body in conjunction with this fluid art form. These workshops will focus on muscle groups and the unique way that dancers use their bodies to convey messages to their audience.

Candy Houses Family Fun Workshop Saturday, November 22, 9:30 a.m. - noon
Try your hand at creative construction as you build your own holiday house out of graham crackers and candy. $15 per child.

Family Fun Workshops are a new series of classes designed to promote fun and learning for the whole family. Each workshop is intended to be hands-on and educational. An adult is required to attend the workshop with the participating child and participate in the activity.

Move Your Body Dance Class Saturday, November 29, 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Free to the Public
Have you been inspired by BODY WORLDS 2 yet? It’s time to get moving towards a healthier lifestyle and a healthier you! Learn a new kind of dance at each Move Your Body class. Listen to fun music, improve your moves on the dance floor, and learn something new. Bring the whole family to HMNS to start getting active together...for free! Classes facilitated by Dance Houston.

Body Conditioning Wednesday, December 3, 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. Free to the Public
Stretch, strength train and get your metabolism up in a relaxed atmosphere at our Body Conditioning class. Join instructor Amanda Austin as she leads you through exercises that will increase your stamina, flexibility and musculature. Amanda has been teaching dance for over 25 years and will be offering monthly Body Conditioning classes at HMNS through February 2009. Please bring a yoga mat or towel and dress in loose comfortable clothing.

Canopic Jar Family Fun Workshop Saturday, December 20, 9:30 a.m. - noon
Learn how ancient Egyptians mummified their dead and paint a canopic jar as a keepsake. $23 per child.
