Educational Programs

The Houston Museum of Natural Science offers year-round educational opportunities for Teachers, Children & Families, Adults and Scouts to supplement the Museum’s permanent and special exhibitions.  In addition, the Wortham IMAX® Theatre, the Cockrell Butterfly Center, and the Burke Baker Planetarium provide unique learning experiences.

Fly Challenger Missions at either the Museum or the George Observatory in Brazos Bend State Park.

Bring the excitement of the Museum to your school or organization through the Museum’s Outreach Programs.  Choose from Wildlife on Wheels, Docents to Go, Science on Stage, the Discovery Dome, and Bugs on Wheels.

Excite the youngest patrons with Early Investigations tours.  These are available for 5-7 year olds and feature a 45-minute classroom program and a 45-minute tour through one of the permanent exhibits.

Explore science and nature in Interactive Science Labs featuring Museum specimens, artifacts, and laboratory equipment. Students investigate technology, meet live animals, and conduct scientific experiments in one hour labs.

Professional development opportunities are also available for educators.

Education is the Museum’s mission, so let us help you reach your educational goals.
