The Shell Educators’ Preview is now on the same day as The Educator Event! Houston Museum of Natural Science is excited to announce a new format for The Educator Event @HMNS! Our new and revamped Educator Event will happen October 2020. It will also feature several ways to earn CPE credit from attending workshops, to taking tours and seeing films in our Burke Baker Planetarium. Educators will be able to earn one, two or three hours of CPE credit depending on which programming they attend. Come an hour early to the Shell Educators’ Preview to earn an extra hour for a total of 4 hours of CPE credit! We believe that this new format will be flexible enough for our educators and help them fulfill some of their professional credit needs for the year. This conference-style event gives educators a unique chance to learn about the educational opportunities provided by museums, educational nonprofits and local organizations in and around Houston.

Local Organizations

Museums, local organizations and educational non-profits are invited to participate in The Educator Event @HMNS! Participating organizations can present workshops with hands on activities, demonstrations and fun curriculum for Houston area educators. Workshops are 30 minutes in length and will happen during four different time slots throughout the event. Participating as an organization is free! To participate in 2020,  email for more information.

The Educator Event @HMNS is open to all Houston-area teachers, school administrators, student teachers, education undergraduate and graduate students and home school educators. Participants will receive complimentary entrance to select HMNS permanent exhibit halls and complimentary educator showings in our Burke Baker Planetarium. There will be several ways to earn CPE credit, and educators can earn one, two or three credit hours depending on the programming they attend. Educators are welcome to attend some or all of the event. More information about The Educator Event @HMNS will be posted on this page in Summer 2020!

Registration will open at the end of Summer 2020!
