Priority membership registration begins for Family level and above, Thursday, January 17, 2019.

Registration for the General Public begins: Thursday, January 24, 2019.

Summer Scouts will be offered in Monday–Friday week-long sessions. Classes begin at 9:30 a.m. and conclude at 2:30 p.m.

There will be three weeks of classes at HMNS at Hermann Park and three weeks of classes at HMNS at Sugar Land. Note: the week of the Fourth of July in Sugar Land will shortened to four three days of classes (Monday-Wednesday, July 1-3). Also, we are offering special one day classes on Monday, August 12, 2019 and Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at the Sugar Land Museum.

This year’s Summer Scouts program is offering the following classes:

TIGER CUB CLASS:

Scout Permission Form

Scouts going on a field trip stated in the class description, will need a completed and signed permission slip, available here, to attend.

PLEASE NOTE – Scouts will not be allowed to participate in field trips without a completed Permission Slip.  

NO REFUNDS will be processed for activities missed due to a missing Permission Slip.  


Health Form

REQUIRED HEALTH RECORD FORM FOR ALL SCOUTS

A completed HMNS Scout Health Record Form or a BSA Part B Health form must be on file with the Scout Office prior to each scout beginning class. If a scout is participating in more than one week of class, the Scout Health Record Form must be submitted for the first class, but duplicate copies are not needed for the following classes.

  • Complete the Scout Health Record Form, available here and within the information document for each class.
  • Completed Scout Health Record Forms must be brought on the first day of class, faxed to 713-639-4681, emailed as an attachment to scouts@hmns.org, OR mailed or dropped off to:

Summer Scouts Lunch Options

Houston Museum of Natural Science main museum location in Hermann Park:

We are thrilled to have Sodexo as our partner providing new dining options at the Houston Museum of Natural Science main museum location. Sodexo is introducing Catering by Periodic Table which will include limited box lunch options from the Periodic Table Café and Burger King™. For Scouts attending the main museum location in Hermann Park you can order a lunch with Catering by Periodic Table or bring a lunch from home.

  • To order a lunch for your child from Catering by Periodic Table at the main museum location, place the order online with Catertrax at http://hmnscatering.misofic.net, by calling 713-900-5095, or by placing an order in person at the Periodic Table Cafe. Orders must be placed before 10:15 a.m. Order information and menu options are available at the scouts@HMNS website (www.hmns.org/education/scouts/), or on site at HMNS Hermann Park.

Houston Museum of Natural Science Sugar Land

For Scouts attending the HMNS Sugar Land location you can order a lunch with Chick-Fil-A™ or bring a lunch from home. All Chick-Fil-A™ Orders for the entire week must be placed in person on Monday before 10:15 a.m. with the Chick-Fil-A™ representative at HMNS Sugar Land.

  • To order a lunch from Chick-Fil-A™ at the Sugar Land location, a Chick-Fil-A™ representative will be available at HMNS Sugar Land on Monday mornings from 9 – 10:15 a.m. Orders are cash only. Please note: McDonalds™ and Park Grill lunches are not available for classes taking place at the Houston Museum of Natural Science at Sugar Land. Download the Chick-Fil-A order form.
  • Scouts are not permitted to purchase a lunch during supervised lunchtime at either location.
