Museum Awareness Staff Development
Museum Awareness sessions introduce teachers to the interdisciplinary educational opportunities for students available at the Museum. Participants will become familiar with our TEKS - based approach to field trips. After an IMAX® film and/or a visit to the Burke Baker Planetarium and/or a tour of the Cockrell Butterfly Center, teachers will explore the Museum using our educational materials.
Who: Groups of 20 or more teachers.
When: Monday - Saturday, year - round Full or half day sessions are available
Cost: Based on what the participants see and do at the Museum

LyondellBasell Educator Overnights
Enjoy the Houston Museum of Natural Science after hours as you participate in an exclusive Overnight experience designed for Educators. In each fun-filled evening you will work on hands-on activities to use in your classroom, have a catered dinner, tour the exhibit with a trained docent**, have a snack, take a late night tour, and sleep among the exhibits in the Hall of the Americas. In the morning during breakfast, we will wrap up activities and hand out door prizes! After the overnight, you are welcome to visit the Museum’s permanent exhibit halls at your leisure. 6 hours of CPE credit will be awarded to participants at the end of the event on Saturday morning*. Registration for the Museum's LyondellBasell Educator Overnights is restricted to Educators Only.
*NOTE: participants must stay through the entire event to receive credit as partial credit is not available.
**Special exhibition entry is included with Terra Cotta Warriors Overnight only.
Cost: $75 per educator
When: Selected dates below Friday night 6 p.m. - Saturday morning at 10 a.m.

NEW! TAKS Boot Camp
TAKS Boot Camp consists of hands – on science activities designed to provide your students with extra help in specific areas of science to prepare for the TAKS test. One hour workshops start at $200 for up to 30 students on the topic of your choice.
Boot Camp is designed for 5th and 8th graders. Teachers choose from one of three project topics: Earth Science, Energy, or Chemistry. ExxonMobil Teacher Tuesdays
Discover a new world of science as you go behind the scenes with HMNS curators and staff in these exciting interactive workshops. These programs are for adults only.
With new topics each month we can provide you with ideas and activities to bring your classroom to life! Inspired by the runaway success of the Museum’s Xplorations summer camps and school-year science labs, these workshops give the HMNS teaching staff an opportunity to share what they do best! Register soon as these workshops have a tendency to sell out!
When: 5 - 8 p.m. Cost: $25 (dinner included) 3 hours CPE credit
