Orchid Mantis
Hymenopus coronatus
This beautiful mantis comes from tropical Asia. Notice the enlarged angular flaps on the legs. These look almost like petals and help the insect to blend with its background. In nature these predators sit among flowers to wait for unwary pollinators.
