Research Interests

  • Distribution and ecology of biotic communities along the Texas coast
  • Coral reefs of the southwestern Gulf of Mexico and Yucatan Peninsula
  • Effects of oil spills on the marine environment
  • Systematics, distribution, and ecology of molluscs
Recent Appointments

Dr. Tunnell is the Director of the Center for Coastal Studies at Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi.

He is also the Associate Director for the Harte Research Institute for Gulf of Mexico Studies.
