Antique Roses:
Pink Ladies and Crimson Gents

© Don Glentzer

May 17 - September 1, 2008

William Lobb (1809-1864), history’s first commercial plant hunter, scoured Chile, Peru, Ecuador, California and Oregon for green treasures to ship back to England in the mid-1800s. While his exploits may be largely forgotten today, Lobb’s legacy is alive and growing in gardens. The beautiful moss rose that bears his name is just one of the featured blossoms in this photographic exhibit from the book Pink Ladies & Crimson Gents, which tells the stories of the names behind 50 beloved old-fashioned roses.
