Moghul Diamond Treasures and
the Nature of Diamonds
Tom Moses, John King and Benjamin Zucker
Tuesday, August 18, 6 p.m.
Lower Level Conference Room

Celebrating the first display of the Moghul mirror flat-diamond necklace, Tom Moses and John King from the Gemological Institute of America (New York) will discuss the gemological origins of these Indian stones and the master craftsmanship of Indian diamond cutters. Benjamin Zucker, noted jewelry historian and author of Gems And Jewels will discuss the importance of the piece in relation to imperial Indian art.

During this presentation, the necklace will be described as a link in the diamond-cutting chain of history – from the earliest uncut diamond jewelry, through table cuts and rose cuts, to the European brilliant cut diamonds of today. Following the lecture, admission to The Nature of Diamonds exhibition is included. Sponsored by Gemological Institute of America and Precious Stones Co. (New York).
