Corporate Support
The Houston Museum of Natural Science is a Houston institution, celebrating 100 years of science education during 2009. Supporting the Museum makes good business sense by:
- Raising the visibility of your company within the greater Houston community.
- HMNS is consistently one of the most attended museums in the country.
- The Museum has approximately 2.5 million annual visits, which includes 500,000 school children.
- Visitors include local residents and out-of-towners.
- The Museum has over 50,000 members.
- The Museum website gets 2 million hits annually.
- Demonstrating that you support science education in your community.
- Education is at the heart of our mission. Corporate support helps the Museum instill the love of science and technology in hundreds of thousands of school children a year.
- Through programs supported by our Corporate Partners, the Museum is encouraging historically underrepresented minority students to prepare for careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) fields and meet the 21st century work-force needs of companies like yours.
- Reaping tangible benefits for your company and its employees.
- Since the Museum is a 501(c)3 organization, contributions to the Museum are tax exempt to the fullest extent of the law.
- Depending on the type of support, benefits include free rental of Museum Hall, complimentary tickets to permanent exhibition halls and touring exhibitions, and name of company on collateral materials and in Museum publications.
Opportunities for Corporate Support
For additional information, please contact Amy Chaisson, Director of Corporate Giving, at 713-639-4746 or achaisson@hmns.org or Cindy Geiser, Development Manager, at 713-639-4778 or cgeiser@hmns.org.
1. Annual Fund
Annual Fund gifts are a very important part of the Museum’s financial picture. Because they are unrestricted, donations to the Annual Fund can be used wherever the need is greatest and can even help with our day-to-day expenses.
2. Wiess Energy Hall Partners
The Wiess Energy Hall is a permanent exhibit at the Museum which explores the entire process of energy development, from how oil and natural gas are formed to the ways in which various types of energy are used. Wiess Energy Hall Partners are energy and energy-related companies that support the Museum through gifts to the Annual Fund and in turn, receive special benefits.
3. Gala
The Museum’s annual Gala is held on the first Saturday in March. Proceeds from the Gala are used to support the Museum’s educational programs and activities. Corporate underwriters can receive preferential seating and benefits. For more information, contact Katie Womack at 713-639-4618 or kwomack@hmns.org.
4. Special Recognition Opportunities
Exhibition Support – The Houston Museum of Natural Science hosts numerous world-class traveling exhibitions each year. Because exhibition supporters are listed on all exhibition collateral materials, including ads, posters, printed invitations, MuseumNews publications, as well as in press releases, on the Museum’s website and more, corporations receive maximum exposure from exhibition support.
IMAX® Support – The Museum’s Wortham IMAX® Theatre provides thought-provoking, educational films in an immersive environment. IMAX® support offers corporations a unique benefit because the IMAX® screen is the only place in the Museum in which corporate logos are displayed.
Partners in Education - Donations to Partners in Education help support the Museum’s generalized education programming. Courses supported by Partners in Education include outreach programs, adult education lectures, scouting, summer camps and more.
