HMNS@100 Overview

The planned four-story exhibition wing will add direly needed exhibition and classroom space. Click image to enlarge.

In 2006, the Museum welcomed more than 3 million visitors, including 500,000 school children – despite the limits imposed by facilities originally built to accommodate 200,000.

To meet this ever-increasing demand, the Museum is launching an $85 million capital campaign to build a new wing and renovate the current facility with the objectives of:

-Creating the most dramatic and comprehensive Paleontology Hall in the world.

-Expanding educational facilities, with the addition of space for 40 new classrooms, to accommodate school field trips.

-Renovating permanent exhibition halls and doubling the number of temporary exhibition halls.

-Expanding the parking garage and storage space for the Museum’s collections.

-Enhancing visitor services with a new consolidated gift shop and additional meeting space.

We need your help to make these plans a reality for Houston’s future. Get involved – and help us build for the next century of science education in Houston.
