Spend the Night at the George Observatory
Groups can enjoy an exclusive Overnight at the George Observatory! Experience an amazing evening of stargazing with the 36” Gueymard Research telescope (weather permitting), then take an exciting night hike around Creekfield Lake in beautiful Brazos Bend State Park to observe wildlife in their nocturnal habitats.
Customize your Overnight by choosing from different activity topics, optional presentations and more to create your own unforgettable Overnight adventure!
Optional astronomy activities are available for cloudy nights.
Who can participate in an Overnight?
Children ages 8-12 and adult chaperones. This is a great opportunity for a special class field trip or a scout group outing.
When do Overnights take place?
Overnights are available Sunday – Friday nights from 7:30 pm to 9:00 am the following day. Dates are subject to availability and generally book about 6 months to a year in advance.
What’s included in the basic Overnight package?
Telescope viewing (weather permitting)
Late night snack and continental breakfast
Night hike around handicapped accessible Creekfield Lake
What is the cost of a basic Overnight?
Small groups of up to 30 people
Large groups of up to 50 people
These prices do not include optional Overnight upgrades.
What optional upgrades are available for an Overnight?
Upgrades are subject to availability—ask about options to custom design your experience.
