Save the Date for GEMS 2016!
Saturday, February 20, 2016
9 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
The Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council and the Houston Museum of Natural Science invite you to attend the Girls Exploring Math and Science (GEMS) event. The Museum will be filled with hands-on science and math for everyone to experience. Local professionals will be at the Museum to answer questions about their careers in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math.
Thanks to the Society of Petroleum Engineers / Gulf Coast Section for its support of GEMS 2015!
Students have the opportunity to create a project related to science, technology, engineering and math and present it to students, family and friends at GEMS. Student booths are open to groups of students (4th – 12th graders) who are enthusiastic about sharing their knowledge! GEMS is a terrific exercise for students in group work and presentation skills. A great fit for Science clubs, Math clubs, JETS, National Honor Society and other aspiring educators! Applications for 2016 will be posted here!
Participating booths are eligible to win prizes for their school science labs or math classrooms! Teachers, consider offering extra credit for your students to attend or apply to host a booth to teach a topic for a day!
Share your career or your passion with the science and math enthusiasts of tomorrow! Community Booths immerse girls in the exciting worlds of math, science, engineering and technology and the careers that relate to them. They can be local organizations, companies or clubs that would like to share their excitement about STEM with the next generation. GEMS community booths are located in the HMNS Grand Hall and have a great opportunity to reach out to Houston area families.
