The Houston Museum of Natural Science will be CLOSED Thanksgiving Day. From 11/28-11/30 the museum will be open from 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Our Earth Science Labs explore everything Earth – from the depths of the ocean to our place in space. 


Bringing a group to HMNS or HMNS Sugar Land? Explore science, nature and history in our interactive science labs which feature specimens, artifacts and laboratory equipment.

Each lab lasts one hour and accommodates up to 25 students. Labs cost range between $165 per lab and $200 (for Dissection Lab*) and include admission to the Museum's Permanent Exhibit Halls.

Rock Cycle - October 24
Sedimentary, metamorphic and igneous, oh my! Take a spin through the rock cycle and investigate how rocks are changed and formed.

Rocks and Minerals - February 26
Discover the difference between rocks and minerals and learn how you use them daily.

Moh’s Hardness Scale - April 24
Moh’s scale helps determine how useful a mineral can be. In this lab you will test some minerals and learn their uses.

Land Forms - May 21
In this first class in a yearly series, you will explore the basic landforms found in Texas.
