Summer Scout Academy
The Museum’s Summer Scout Academy will offer 31 different merit badge– including 4 eagle-required badges – during weeklong summer scout classes at HMNS!
Each class meets from 9:30 AM – 2:30 PM, Monday through Friday at the Houston Museum of Natural Science. Early drop-off and late pick-up is available. Summer Scout classes are also offered at HMNS in Sugar Land.
All classes are targeted to fulfill the requirements outlined by Boy Scouts of America for Merit Badges and Webelos Activity Pins. Merit Badge classes are taught by counselors registered with BSA.

These documents must be reviewed before registering for a Summer Scout Academy class. Each document will include a class description, registration process, frequently asked questions, special instructions, field trip information & permission slips, and required health forms.

Eagle Required Badges - Information for Leaders
HMNS offers three badges that are required for the rank of Eagle. The following documents explain how the classes will meet each of the requirements.
To register, download the Important Information document for instructions on how to proceed through the Online Box Office. Then click on the class description box below to jump to the Box Office. Classes that cannot be selected are sold out.
Webelos Super Science is appropriate for a Webelos Cub Scout in the fourth or fifth grade. All other Summer Scout merit badge classes are appropriate for a Boy Scout in the sixth grade or higher. Please ask your Pack or Troop Leaders if you are not sure which classes your child should take.
