Museum Birthday Parties

The Houston Museum of Natural Science can provide any child the birthday party of their dreams. The Museum offers two different birthday parties:

Be sure to include preferred date as well as some alternatives (week before, after, other times) if you wish, in case your first choice is full or otherwise unavailable.

Museum Adventure Birthday Parties:

General Information

Ages:	3-12

How Many:	Maximum of 20 kids and 20 adults. $15.00 extra charge for every child over the 20 limit. An additional fee of $7.00 may apply for extra adults over the 20 limit.

When:	Saturdays, 9 – 11 a.m., 12 - 2 p.m., or 3 - 5 p.m. Sundays, 12 - 2 p.m., or 3 - 5 p.m. Some dates may be unavailable due to other Museum events.

Cost:	$300.00 HMNS Members $325.00 Non Members $350.00 Party and Family Membership (if membership is purchased when party is booked)

Included Items

Museum Admission for all guests including parents
Party room rental for 2 hours Party room includes 6, 6 foot tables.
Hands-on Activities - Kids make a craft to take home and also receive a short interactive classroom presentation which includes live animals
Exhibit Hall tour with your Birthday Party Coordinator, tours vary depending on the theme chosen
Set up and clean up before and after party by the birthday party coordinator
Additional admission tickets for the Butterfly Center, IMAX® and/or Planetarium shows are available for an additional charge. The Cockrell Butterfly Center ticket charge is $6.00. The Burke Baker Planetarium ticket is $6.00. The Wortham IMAX® Threatre ticket is $8.00. Special Wortham IMAX® Threatre Movie tickets are $12.00. Special Exhibition ticket admission charges vary from exhibition to exhibition. Please note that a reservation must be made prior to the day of the party by the Birthday Party Coordinator in order to qualify for the group rate.
Admission prices are subject to change without notice.

Gift Bags

Gift bags are available for discount prices. Orders must be placed at least two weeks prior to the party. Gift bag items and pricing may vary depending on the items in stock. If you are interested in placing an order, please contact giftshop@hmns.org or call 713-639-4707.

Food

Please bring your own cake, refreshments and paper goods. McDonald’s at the Museum will take orders on the day of the party that will be delivered right to the room. If you are interested in placing and order, you may contact them by calling 713-639-4699.

Decorations

Table covers are provided only. Additional room decorations are not provided. A balloon package is available starting at $20.00 for a dozen. The package consists of two Mylar balloons and 10 eleven inch latex balloons.

Location

All parties are held in an education classroom in the basement of the Museum, with excursions within the Museum.

Party Schedule & Activities

This is a general party schedule. For example a 9 a.m. party:

9:00 - 9:30 Greet guests and work on craft
9:30 - 10:00 Tour hall
10:00 - 10:30 Cake and presents
10:30 - 11:00 Live animal presentation

Activities vary depending on the theme.

Payment

Credit card payments only will be accepted. No personal checks are accepted.
50% of the balance is required to reserve your date and time.
The remainder of the balance is due and will be charged to the credit card provided 7 days prior to the party.

Day of Party

Host should arrive about 30 minutes early to meet the birthday party coordinator scheduled for that event. Enter the main entrance off the grand hall. Museum garage parking is not included; there are many places around the park that allow a maximum of 2 hours free parking. Parking may be purchased in bulk for your guests at the box office\ticket counter in the grand hall. If you have any further questions or concerns, please ask your Birthday Party Coordinator.
