Group Policy and Procedures

In order to be considered a group and receive the discounted group rates, the group must have at least 20 people, make advanced reservations and payment must be received 24 hours before the scheduled visit.

Guidelines

Group rates apply for the Exhibit Halls, Wortham IMAX Theater, Burke Baker Planetarium and Cockrell Butterfly Center and can be purchased at the e-Box Office (by credit only) or by calling 713-639-4629.  Friday Night Star Parties can be scheduled by phone only by calling the Geroge Observatory at 281-242-3055.

The Museum receives a large number of children's school group visits on weekday mornings. The Museum recommends afternoon visits Monday through Friday and morning visits on weekends for adult groups that prefer a more quiet museum experience.


Check-in Made Easy
  • Groups must check in at least 30-minutes prior to show time.
  • If your group has not done so, we reserve the right to substitute another group in your place.
  • Bring your confirmation number/letter with you when you arrive.
  • The group leader should proceed to the Box Office.
  • All programs start on time and are not delayed for any reason.
  • For your safety, no one will be seated once a program begins.
  • If the group misses its scheduled program, we cannot guarantee that your group can be placed into another program.
  • If you are running late, please call us at (713) 639-4629.
Payment, Cancellations and Refunds

Payment
When purchasing group tickets by web, you will receive a number confirming your ticket purchase. By phone, group tickets may be reserved in advance, but must be paid for a minimum of 24 hours before the scheduled visit. Group reservations made by phone that have not been paid for by the scheduled visit date will be cancelled.

Payment can be made by over the web or phone with a credit card only, by mail with a check or credit card and at the Box Office at the Museum with cash, check or credit card.

Cancellations and Changes
Cancellations or a reduction in numbers cannot be made once group tickets have been paid for. Additions to previously purchased or reserved tickets can only be made by calling (713) 639-4629. HMNS cannot guarantee seating availability for additions to the group at any time after the original purchase is made. Please have your confirmation number available when you call.

Refunds
Refunds will be made only in the event of Museum equipment failure such as power failures, malfunctions in projection equipment, etc.

NO OTHER REFUNDS WILL BE MADE.
