Scouting at the George Observatory

Boy & Girl Scouts Programs

Any troop...or group can schedule a mission to return to the Moon in the Challenger Learning Center.  The simulated space flight is adaptable for all age levels of Scouts.

Or come out on a Saturday afternoon have a mission, have a picnic, then when the stars come out, come over to the Observatory for a look through the telescopes! Reservations required for missions in The Challenger Learning Center.

Registration for 2010-2011 programs begins Monday, August 2 at 9 a.m.

Girl Scout Programs at the George Observatory

Stay the night at the George Observatory in Brazos Bend State Park and earn your Aerospace or Sky Search badges. Friday night do the badge work, use Observatory telescopes, take a night hike around Creekfield Lake, and spend the night inside the Observatory exhibit area. Then do a Challenger Center Mission Saturday morning. 
Costs:  Girls $40, Adults $15.

Brownie Programs at the George Observatory

Passport to the Universe
Exciting New Brownie Program!

Join other Brownie Scouts on a mission to the Moon! Girls use teamwork and problem-solving to experience real astronaut training on the S.S. Observer. Fun and excitement rule as girls experience success as astronauts.

Cost: $15 per girl

Time: 1:00 p. m. – 2:30 p.m.
