Maintenance Worker


Position: Maintenance Worker
Employment Status: Full Time, Hourly
Reports to: VP of Building Maintenance
Department:  Building Maintenance

Position Overview

This position is accountable for troubleshooting, repairs, and performing preventive maintenance relative to the mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and physical structural elements of the museum.

Responsibilities Include (But Are Not Limited To)

  • Operate and monitor all equipment in the museum and other buildings. Components include but not limited to chillers, boilers, air handling units, pumps, air compressors, emergency generators, valves, A/C units, pumps, etc.
  • Maintain, perform preventative maintenance, and complete minor repairs on all equipment within the museum as required. Must be able to use basic hand tools, tube cleaning equipment, ladders, lifts, press, drills, grinders, saws, refrigeration gauges, volt/ohm/amp meters etc.
  • Respond to trouble calls made by staff and guests, and take the appropriate course of action based on conditions of the situation.
  • Complete work order tickets, PM sheets, material /services request forms, inspection reports, log sheets and other required paperwork.
  • Routinely inspects facility, troubleshoots and makes repairs to the mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems, as well as any structural elements of the museum.
  • Perform a variety of maintenance/minor repair activities on the interior/exterior areas of the property including, but not limited to, painting, drywall, structural elements, including parking lot and sidewalks, plumbing repairs, clears drain stoppages, interior and exterior lighting including lamp, fuse and ballast replacement.
  • Operate a variety of equipment to perform preventive maintenance, minor repairs, and maintain cleanliness of property.
  • Assist other departments to setup events.
  • Perform the job in accordance with all applicable standards, policies, and regulatory guidelines (i.e. OSHA standards) to promote a safe working environment.
  • Schedule and perform preventive maintenance programs as assigned by management.
  • Ensure the appropriate inventory systems, records, files, material safety data sheets, supplies, equipment, and tools are maintained.
  • Periodically inspect air handling units, tighten or replace belts, replace filters, and grease components. Maintain logs to document activity.
  • May perform additional maintenance duties as assigned.
