Position: Youth Education Programs Registrar

Employment Status: Full-time salary, Exempt

Job Description

The registrar facilitates coordination of Youth Education Programs to enable the department to maximize programming time and further the mission of the Museum.  Duties of this position include but are not limited to, coordinating sales, bookings and invoices for HMNS Summer Camps, Weekday Labs, In-house Outreach, etc. and the associated spaces, plus the spaces required for rentals, meetings, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Registration for HMNS Summer Camps and Youth Education Programs
  • Schedule Museum venues for educational programming
  • Management of paperwork and record-keeping for Teachers and Teaching Assistants
  • Substitute in departmental programming as necessary or arrange for a substitute from an approved list
  • Facilitate Overnight program as necessary
  • Managing departmental online calendar and calendar conflicts
  • Maintain patron health records, consent and release forms and payment information
  • Other duties as required

Requirements

  • Mastery of ATMS
  • Willing to work long and extended hours, including evenings, weekends, overnight and some holidays
  • Impeccable record keeping of confidential information to maintain legal compliance with state organizations
  • Comfortable lifting large items, approximately 40 lbs
  • Not squeamish around bodily fluids and know Universal Precautions
  • Classroom experience
  • Access to reliable vehicle
  • Like and skilled at working with children
  • Can remain calm in crisis/emergency situations
  • Familiar with educational programs at the Museum
  • Have knowledge of the Houston Museum District area
  • Organized, detail-oriented, reliable and a self-starter
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and creating spreadsheets for data tracking
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Excellent customer service
  • Able to meet required deadlines
  • Flexible, personable and able to multi-task

Other Skills Preferred:

  • Trained in First-aid/CPR/AED/Epi-pen
  • First-hand experience in educational programming at the Museum
  • Previous participation as a HMNS volunteer
  • Coursework in education, science and/or history
