Girl Scouts


Girl Scout summer classes are for girls in grades 2 and up and provide an interactive and fun look into scientific fields. Three classes are written specifically for Brownies (2nd and 3rd grade), three are for Juniors (4th and 5th grade), two for Cadettes (6th through 8th grade) and one for Seniors (9th and 10th grade). Note: Badges completed indicated in parenthesis.


Five Day Classes

Bionic Brownies (Hermann Park)
(June 13-17)
(Think like a Programmer Journey, Programming Robots badge, Designing Robots badge and Showcasing Robots badge)
Brownies will explore robots and learn how program can solve problems, complete a Take-Action Project at the museum and earn their Robotics badges.

Brownies on the Go! (Hermann Park)
(Celebrating Community, My Family Story, Hiker, Space Science
Adventurer, and Letterboxer)
(July 25-29)
Discover facts about your community and family. Learn about the moon, stars and universe. Explore Hermann Park while hiking and hunting for letterboxes. A field trip around the museum area is included (Field Trip Permission Form required).

Brownies S.T.E.M. Safari (Four Day Class) (Hermann Park)
(July 5-8)
(Brownie STEM Career Exploration Badge, Brownie Automotive Design Badge, Brownie Automotive Engineering Badge, Brownie Automotive Manufacturing Badge, Brownie Coding Basics)
Explore and discover the world of STEM! Brownies will create automotive designs, learn coding basics, and discover the many careers of STEM!

Mechanical Juniors (Hermann Park)
(July 25-29)
(Think like an Engineer Journey, Balloon Car Design Challenge, Crane Design Challenge and Paddle Boat Design Challenge)
Juniors will explore the engineering process, while designing a balloon car, crane and paddle boat. Girls will earn their Think Like an Engineer journey and do their Take-Action Project at the museum.

Program Your World (Four Day Class) (Hermann Park)
(July 5-8)
(Think like a Programmer Journey, Programming Robots badge, Designing Robots badge and Showcasing Robots badge)
Juniors will learn how programmers solve problems, complete a Take Action Project at the museum and earn their Robotics badges.

Cadette Coder (Hermann Park)

Cadettes will explore how robots work, how programmers solve problems, and complete a Take-Action Project at the museum.


TWO DAY CLASSES
Get Moving Juniors (Sugar Land)
(Get Moving Journey)
(July 18-19)
This is a two day course to complete the journey. Juniors will explore energy usage and savings while completing their Take Action Project at the museum.

Seniors SOW What? (Hermann Park) (Sugar Land)
(June 16-17 at Hermann Park and August 8-9 in Sugar Land)
(Sow What? Journey)
Senior girls will explore the food network, where food comes from, and how it arrives from farm to table, along with the footprint that our food leaves on planet Earth and complete a Take-Action Project at the museum.


ONE DAY CLASSES
Cadettes Breathe Journey (Sugar Land)
(Breathe Journey)
(July 22)
Breathe Journey – Girls will work on their Breathe Journey Aware, Alert and Affirm awards and create a take action project to share with patrons at the museum.
