Explore the wide variety of merit badges and adventure badges available during weeklong summer scout classes at HMNS.

Cub Scouts and Webelos


These classes will complete Adventures for current Cub Scouts and Webelos. There are two available classes for Webelos, one for Bear Cub Scouts and one for Wolf Cub Scouts. Each class will complete five Adventures.

Scouts@HMNS is proud to offer two Adventures that are required by the Boy Scouts of America! These are denoted with an asterisk (*). In addition, several more Adventures are required for Webelos looking to earn a Nova Award, and these are denoted with a caret (^).

Note: Adventures completed indicated in parenthesis, * indicates BSA-required Adventure, ^ indicates a STEM/Nova badge.

  • Webelos Science Explorer
    June 18–22, July 9–13, and July 30–August 3
    (Adventures in Science, Earth Rocks, Engineer, Into the Wild, and Into the Woods)
    Learn the history of science, how to conduct experiments, and how to design and build devices such as a catapult. Experiment with the world around you, collect bugs, tour the museum’s halls, see Burke Baker Planetarium and Wortham Giant Screen Theater shows, and make a rock and fossil collection as you earn adventure badges. A field trip around the museum area is included (Field Trip Permission Form required).
  • Webelos World Pioneer
    June 18–22, July 9–13, and July 30–August 3
    (Aware & Care, Build a Better World*, Build It, First Responder**, and Webelos Walkabout**)
    * Arrow of Light requirement; ** Required Webelo Adventures
    Become certified in First Aid; learn about challenges that other people face, how to be a good citizen, and how to prepare for a hike. A field trip around the museum area is included (Field Trip Permission Form required).
  • Bear Necessities
    June 18–22, July 9–13, and July 30–August 3
    (Fur, Feathers, and Ferns, Forensics, Marble Madness, Roaring Laughter, and Robotics)
    Investigate the world of animals, insects, and plants. Learn about laughter, play with marbles, and discover the science of robotics and crime investigation. A field trip around the museum area is included (Field Trip Permission Form required).
  • Wolf Tracks
    June 18–22, July 9–13, and July 30–August 3
    (Call of the Wild*, Council Fire (Duty to Country)*, Paws on the Path*, Digging in the Past, and Motor Away)* Required Wolf Adventures
    Learn about the Outdoor Code, the community you live in, and how to “Be Prepared” for outdoor adventures. Explore the past in the Moran Hall of Paleontology and discover and the physical properties of propulsion. A field trip around the museum area is included (Field Trip Permission Form required).
