The George Observatory is open Saturday nights year round!
- Astronomy Merit Badge Classes – Saturday April 13, 2019 from 3–7 p.m.
Study how activities in space affect our own planet and bear witness to the wonders of the night sky. Telescope viewing included, weather permitting. (Prerequisite 4c & 6b). (Post requirement 5c can be viewed using the telescopes, weather permitting.)
Scouts BSA Merit Badge classes are designed for boys or girls who are 11 to 17 years of age, have earned the Cub Scouting Arrow of Light Award and are at least 10 years old or have finished the fifth grade. These classes aim to fulfill the requirements of the badge, but outside work may be required in some instances.- Note: Admission to Brazos Bend State Park required. Park fee: $7, free to children 12 and under.

- Any troop can schedule an mission to the Moon in the Expedition Center at the George Observatory! Come out on a Saturday afternoon, take an expedition to space and have a picnic. When the stars come out, come back to the Observatory for a look through the telescopes!
Reservations required for programs in the Chevron Expedition Center. This simulated space flight is adaptable for all age levels of Scouts.
