Experience Augmented Reality (AR) with the explorers in Sugar Land!

For millennia, dinosaurs were the undisputed masters of the planet, and mankind followed in their footsteps.  Today’s Augmented Reality can deliver an experience like never before, fulfilling our ultimate dream of seeing dinosaurs, explorers, and exotic animals walk among us! Travel back in time to the Age of Dinosaurs. Soar with a pterosaur, hunt with T. rex and run with the raptors!

Augmented Reality is an interactive experience of a real-world environment, whose elements are “augmented” by computer-generated perceptual information, sometimes across multiple sensory modalities, including visual, auditory, haptic, somatosensory, and olfactory.  With the help of advanced AR technologies, information about the surrounding world of the user becomes interactive, as objects are overlaid on the real world images. This overlay technology differs from Virtual Reality technology, which usually blocks out any outside visual information.

The AR experience is available to all visitors on the first floor screen adjacent to the t-rex.

Please help us to preserve our collections for the next generation by not using flash when taking personal pictures at HMNS and at HMNS Sugar Land. Exposure to strong lights over time causes fading and deterioration of most artifacts and specimens.

Flash photography is ONLY allowed in the Grand Hall and the rainforest of the Cockrell Butterfly Center.

Selfie sticks are not allowed anywhere in HMNS, HMNS Sugar Land and the George Observatory.

For press and any commercial photo shoots, please contact the Public Relations dept.
