Discovered in September 2019, Victoria is the most complete Tyrannosaurus rex skeleton touring the world. The all-new, state-of-the-art exhibition transports guests 66-million-years back in time to Victoria’s home, the Cretaceous period.
Join one of the exhibit creators, paleontologist Dr. Heinrich Mallison, for a lunchtime learning session on the science and labor of reconstructing Victoria, what’s so special about her, and the reasoning behind the exhibit design. Learn about what is included, what is excluded and why.

Dragon gets a letter from his friend Victoria, a T. rex who is on tour at the Houston Museum of Natural Science! We travel there with Dragon to visit her and along the way learn all about dinosaurs and prehistoric reptiles. Our friends at the museum, Matti and Kelsey, lead us through a descriptive tour of different dino-related artifacts, show us how paleontologists identify and classify different prehistoric creatures, and teach us how to really walk like a T. rex. Back in New York, we write about and design our own dinosaurs (and prehistoric reptiles!) with Donnie!
Let’s Write About is an inclusive, born-accessible children’s educational show exploring social-emotional themes through creative writing and inspiring inquiry-based learning with movement and sensory activities kids of all abilities can do at home. Although the first dinosaurs appeared in the Triassic Period, they were by no means a dominant part of the ecology until the very end. We will first examine the time when croc-oids ruled the dinosaurs. An extinction event marks the beginning of the Jurassic Period, and ushers in the “Golden Age of Giants,” the time of 100-foot-long Diplodocus and Stegosaurus who were skilled swordsmen.

Life and Death by Impact: Drilling for Clues in the Chicxulub Impact Crater

Sixty-six million years ago, a 7 mile wide asteroid hit the Earth on the Yucatan Peninsula. This catastrophic event created the 200 km wide Chicxulub impact crater, caused 75% of species including non-avian dinosaurs to go extinct, and marked the end of the Mesozoic Era.
Join Dr. Sean Gulick, a Research Professor at the Jackson School of Geosciences, University of Texas at Austin, for a talk on the integration of geophysical and geological observations of impact craters and continental margins. Dr. Gulick was one of the Co-Chief scientists on an expedition of diverse researchers that drilled offshore into the Chicxulub crater, the site of one of the world’s most famous catastrophes.
