Accessibility and Sensory Sensitivity Events

Sensory Friendly Event, Saturday, September 25, 2021 Details
HMNS offers an early opening event where our exhibits and venues, including the Burke Baker Planetarium*, Giant Screen Theater*, and Cockrell Butterfly Center are modified to create a sensory neutral environment for those with sensory sensitivities. 

Planetarium schedule for September 25:

  • 9AM Passport to the Universe
  • 9:30AM Great Planet Adventures
  • 10AM Unseen Universe
*In the Planetarium, all shows will be sensory-friendly with volume lowered and house lights up. All shows will be captioned.

Giant Screen Theater schedule for September 25:

  • 9:45AM Great Barrier Reef 2D
*In the Giant Screen Theater, this show will be sensory-friendly with volume lowered and house lights up.

This year we have a new opportunity for individuals with disabilities and their families to receive free admission to the permanent exhibit halls for the Sensory Friendly Event! To see if you qualify for the new in-person discounts and to book your visit, please email us at accessprogramming@hmns.org or fill out the booking form below. You may also mention free admission at the Box Office on the day of your visit when you get your tickets.
