Unique Event Options

The Houston Museum of Natural Science offers several options to help make your event unique.

Special Event Lighting
HMNS now has a great new customizable lighting system in the Cullen Grand Entry Hall, Cockrell Butterfly Center and Alfred C. Glassell, Jr. Hall. The system includes colors, texture patterns and gobos. Please ask your event specialist for more details and pricing.

Marquee Screens
The museum offers personalized messages, graphics and videos on our marquee screen in the Grand Entry Hall. This can be a great option for personalization, sponsors, video slide shows or directional signage. Please ask your event specialist for more details.

Special Exhibition Viewings
Take your event to the next level by offering your guests a private viewing of any of our special exhibitions, which can be arranged for an additional fee.

Discovery Guides
Discovery Guides are members of our staff who are trained and knowledgeable about one or more of our permanent exhibit halls and special exhibitions. They will make your event a memorable experience by not only answering your guests’ questions, but also engaging them with interesting facts.

Microphone and Speaker System
The museum has a microphone and speaker system with mixing board. System works well for ceremonies, presentations, speeches, and even playing the host’s playlist. Please inquire with your special event coordinator for more information.

HMNS Gift Shop
Leave your guests with a lasting memory of their event experience by including a gift from any of our Museum Store. HMNS special events staff can assist you in finding the perfect gift. Orders should be placed 8 weeks before your event and quantity discounts are available.

Expedition Center
Help your staff enhance their workplace skills with a teambuilding mission in our Expedition Center. Built in honor of the 1986 Challenger mission, this space offers you and your guests the opportunity to explore outer space, while enhancing such essential skills as teamwork, communication, prioritizing and problem-solving.

Wildlife on Wheels
Explore the basics of animal life – with live animals! Featuring a wide variety of live animals and real Museum specimens, Wildlife On Wheels gives students a unique, hands-on opportunity to learn the basics of animal life. We offer five separate programs, each with a different emphasis. Meet unusual animals and learn about their adaptations for survival, as you experience life science in a whole new way!
