Parent’s Guide to HMNS Summer Camp
The basics of what you need to know! To help you prepare you and your camper for your first day of camp, we have compiled this basic list of answers to some frequently asked questions including information about lunches, before/after camp care, directions and what to expect on your first day.
The Houston Museum of Natural Science offers educational summer science adventures for kids at HMNS at Sugar Land! Your child will have fun exploring science in a variety of ways through one of our action-packed summer science camp experiences.
In 2019, we are offering the very popular paleontology camp Dino Claws and Shark Jaws, the robotics camps Riveting Robots and Lego Robotics, the movie making camp Movie Monster Maker, and returning favorites Wizard Science Academy, Super-Human Science School, Master Spy Camp, Treasure Hunters, and Test for the Best. Also in Sugar Land we have the exciting chemistry camps Kitchen Chemistry, Art Smart, and Waterworks, space camps Space Cadet and Space Pilot, the biology camps Creepy Crawlies and Weird Science, and social studies camps Mummies & Mysteries and Camp Half Blood.
HMNS Summer Camps at the Houston Museum of Natural Science at Sugar Land are week-long, hands-on educational experiences for kids ages 6 – 12.
Summer Camps at HMNS Sugar Land will be held weekly during the following periods:
- June 3–7
- June 17–21
- June 24–28
- July 8–12
- July 15–19
- July 29–August 2
- August 5–9
HMNS Summer Camps in Sugar Land are held at HMNS at Sugar Land, 13016 University Blvd., Sugar Land, TX 77479.
Camps are held Monday-Friday, 10 am -3 pm. Extended day care is also available before and after camp for an additional fee.
Before Camp: 8 -10 am
After Camp: 3 – 5:30 pm.
Campers will have a supervised lunch hour at the Sugar Land museum. Campers will watch an educational video during the lunch hour.
Campers may bring a sack lunch or pre-order a lunch from Chick-fil-A to be delivered to the classroom. A Chick-fil-A representative will be at the Sugar Land museum until 10:30 a.m. the first day of each camp week. If interested, please complete the Chick-fil-A Lunch Order Form. Orders for the entire week must be placed with the representative. Cash only please.
Camp Scholarships Available for 2019 in Sugar Land
Summer camp scholarships are available for students to attend camp at the Houston Museum of Natural Science at Sugar Land. Students must be interested in learning, have good behavior, and be unable to otherwise afford to attend camp.
The scholarship includes a full week of Before Camp, Camp, daily lunch, After Camp, and a snack.
