Wortham Giant Screen Theatre

A Brief Intermission

As of September 3rd the Wortham Giant Screen Theater will be closing for extreme renovations. Here at the Houston Museum of Natural Science we strive to deliver an outstanding movie viewing experience. Could the giant screen experience possibly get any better? Absolutely! Along an update to our screen, lights, stage and seating, we’re also fitting a new sound system for added audio perfection.

This update and more can be enjoyed when the Wortham Giant Screen Theater reopens its doors on November 8.

Celebrating 30 Years of the Giant Screen

Houston’s very first IMAX theatre offers state-of-the-art, 4K digital projection producing incredible 3D images nearly eight stories high. Images of unsurpassed size, clarity and impact, enhanced by a superb six-track sound system, are projected onto a giant 60’ x 80’ foot screen.

Since September 1989, more than 16 million students, families, seniors and museum members have enjoyed the Wortham Giant Screen Experience.
