Discover Our Programs
Dinosaur Discovery
Experience the world of dinosaurs! Discover their lives, diets, and adaptations through interactive presentations. Meet real fossilized specimens and marvel at their bones, horns, claws, teeth, and skin. Learn what makes dinosaurs incredible!
Dynamic Earth
Investigate tectonic plates, natural disasters, weathering and erosion in this interactive, fast-paced trip of geologic proportions through the Earth’s crust. Volcanoes, earthquakes, and landslides, oh my! Beneath the surface of our ever-changing, dynamic planet, hidden dangers lurk deep within. In this presentation, students will examine tectonic plates and discover the chaos they can create when seismic shifts occur; investigate how the landscape transforms through weathering and erosion; and see how the layers of the Earth stack up. Explore the moving Earth beneath our feet as we traverse the Earth’s crust!
This interactive presentation is great for ages 8 and up, and a wonderful reinforcement for TEKS earth science objectives. We do not recommend for younger audiences as some of our other programs will engage with them better. Ask your Reservations representative for a suitable program for the age of your group!
Science Sort
Participants have the opportunity to play paleontologist, as they sift through fossilized sediment to find shark teeth, shells and more! Learn about the many kinds of fossils there are, how they are made, and what various fossil types can tell us about ancient life, while preparing to embark on a mini fossil dig. Next, analyze and compare findings to a fossil identification guide, using the scientific process to determine the origin of fossils uncovered.
This interactive, hands-on, inquiry-based lab presentation is great for ages 7 and up, and a wonderful reinforcement for TEKS earth science objectives. We do not recommend for younger audiences as some of our other programs will engage with them better. Ask your Reservations representative for a suitable program for the age of your group!
Know Your Rocks
Make the Rock Cycle ‘rock’ with real specimens from the museum’s collection to explore each phase with an experienced museum educator. Investigate a variety of rocks from and walk though the amazing processes that happen in our world to create igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary rocks!
This interactive hands-on, inquiry-based lab presentation is great for ages 10 and up, and a wonderful reinforcement for TEKS earth science objectives. We do not recommend for younger audiences as some of our other programs will engage with them better. Ask your reservations representative for a suitable program for the age of your group!
