Meet the Speaker
Dr. Mohamed Ismail Khaled is an Egyptologist specializing in the Old Kingdom. He completed his undergraduate studies at the Universities of El Minya and Cairo and earned his Ph.D. from Charles University in Prague in 2009. He later held a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship funded by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation at the University of Würzburg (2014–2016).
He is currently a scientific researcher in the Department of Egyptology at the University of Würzburg (since 2018) and the Director of the Abusir Project, leading excavations at the pyramid complex of King Sahura. He previously served as the Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities (Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, Egypt) and as Director of Foreign Mission Affairs within the Ministry.
His research and restoration work inside Sahura’s pyramid has produced significant new evidence that has reshaped modern understanding of this key Old Kingdom monument.
