25th Anniversary of the George Observatory
For 25 years the George Observatory has given Houstonians an intimate view of our place in the universe. Peering through telescopes we observe the vastness of space and bright galaxies, majestic rings and fire falling from the heavens. We’ve shattered the crystal sphere so you can touch the sky — to reflect on this precious moment in time and space.

Celebrate the George's 25th Anniversary with us in 2014 with these stellar events!
Partial Solar Eclipse
Thursday, October 23
Open from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Astronomers will be available before the eclipse starts for information on the Sun and to ensure that guests are viewing the eclipse safely. Additionally, the Discovery Dome and the Solar Scope will be available for guests. Because the Sun will be low during the eclipse, and the trees around the George Observatory are high, there will be a Solar Scope in another area for safe viewing.
Geminid Meteor Shower
Saturday, December 13
Open until Midnight
