2023/2024 Moran Teen Advisory Council

Committed to increasing access and expanding programming targeted to teens and young adults.
The inaugural Moran Teen Advisory Council (TAC) works to best serve teens by planning teen-specific events, contribute to social media, generate ideas for furthering academic and professional interests, volunteering, and demonstrating the importance of science.
General Requirements
  • Be between the ages of 14 and 19 and be in 9th to 11th grade
  • Live in the greater Houston Metropolitan area (Austin, Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Liberty, Montgomery and Waller counties)
  • Commit to two-year term on the HMNS Moran Teen Advisory Council
  • Commit to attend monthly TAC Meetings – both virtual and in-person, and additional dates for TAC-planned special events
  • Contribute to the group
  • Have the consent of a parent/guardian to participate this program

Aramco iExplore Biodiversity CTE Credit

Explore the foundational concepts of biodiversity with a two-hour virtual workshop.
Aramco iExplore Biodiversity is a program that utilizes Museum resources to educate fifth grade students about biodiversity and related TEKS objectives. All participants will receive two hours of CTE credit and free access to digital classroom materials developed by HMNS.
The Student Experience Includes:
  • A Docented tour of the Cockrell Butterfly Center and the Brown Hall of Entomology
  • A Rainforest Wildlife live-animal presentation
  • A self-guided tour of the Frensley/Graham Hall of African Wildlife, the Farish Hall of Texas Wildlife, the Hamman Hall of Texas Coastal Ecology and the Morian Hall of Paleontology
