Free Thursdays Are Cooler In The Summer

Everyone loves Free Thursdays at HMNS. But this summer, Free Thursdays are even cooler because you get to come later and stay later. Starting on June 7, our Free Thursday summer hours are from 6–9 p.m. Come experience our fascinating permanent exhibit halls and the planetarium for free, except for Thursday, June 21 and Thursday, August 16. However, because butterflies need their beauty rest, the Cockrell Butterfly Center will close at 8 p.m.

Free Thursday hours will return to 2–5 p.m. beginning on August 23.

Please help us to preserve our collections for the next generation by not using flash when taking personal pictures at HMNS and at HMNS Sugar Land. Exposure to strong lights over time causes fading and deterioration of most artifacts and specimens.

Flash photography is ONLY allowed in the Grand Hall and the rainforest of the Cockrell Butterfly Center.

Selfie sticks are not allowed anywhere in HMNS, HMNS Sugar Land and the George Observatory.

For press and any commercial photo shoots, please contact the Public Relations dept.
